About HARU

The Hallyu Wave has no borders - and Africa is not left out. What started as a global movement of K-pop, K-dramas, and K-beauty has found a home here in Nigeria.

Back in the day, ordering an album or merch meant endless Amazon fees and painful customs charges. I wasn’t the only one - friends and fellow fans shared the same struggle. That frustration sparked an idea: what if there was a way to make Korean culture accessible, affordable, and real right here in Africa?

In 2020, HARU was born.

But HARU is more than just a store. After living in Korea for four years - starting businesses, building relationships with suppliers, learning the culture deeply, and even making it my second home - I wanted to bring that same authenticity back with me. HARU is a bridge between Korea and Africa: every ramen packet, every album, every skincare product carries that story.

One of my favorite memories was meeting an idol in Itaewon back in 2017. He was surprised when I told him people in Nigeria loved his group. I laughed and said, “You have no idea.” That moment reminded me of why HARU exists - to show that our love for K-culture here in Africa is just as strong as anywhere else in the world.

HARU is not just a business. It’s a community, a family. Together with you, we’re building Africa’s first real home for Korean snacks, ramen, K-pop, and K-beauty. And this is only the beginning.

Let’s make HARU great, together.
